What the Bible Says About Giving
When it comes to church institutions, money can be a touchy subject. However when you know what the Bible says about it you can appreciate giving a lot more. I want to say that I will not promise, you will receive millions of dollars for your contributions. I will simply tell you what God's Word says. Please take time
and read what these scriptures are teaching so you will be an informed giver.
Malachi 3:8-10 says, "Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed
with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. “Bring ye
all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a
blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” This scripture says when we do not tithe and give offerings we rob God. It also tells what we are to give and
where.
Luke 6:38 says, Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and
shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. This tells us to be liberal in our giving so that
we may receive liberally in return.
Matthew 23:23 says, “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important
matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. This tells us what to give and to give with the right spirit. Notice also that
the tithe was not always money.
2 Corinthians 9:7 says Every man according as he
purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. This tells us to give with the right spirit.
Hebrews 7:5 says, And verily they that are of the sons of Levi,
who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham. This tells us
(along with the entire chapter of Hebrews 7) that Jesus is worthy to recieve the tithe in His house which is the church.
Hebrews 7:9 says, And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth
tithes, payed tithes in Abraham. This tells us that when the church recieves the tithes, it should also give tithes from what is collected.
Be a blessing to others through your free-will offering to this ministry. We believe in feeding the hungry, clothing the
naked, housing the homeless, and visiting those who are sick and in prison. Please give so we can make these ministries possible. Remember:
Be a blessing so that you can be blessed!
